42nd Annual SCBWI Summer Conference & LA Trip

I went to LA to join 42nd Annual SCBWI Summer Conference in 8/2~8/4. This is my first time to attend the conference, and I think it is a wonderful experience for me. In these three days, there were many good speeches and workshops. I learned how to create characters and stories from great Illustrators. I also started to understand what the market needs from the agents, editors, and art directors. Besides, I heard of many great stories from some famous writers. Though I didn't win anything in not only portfolio showcase but also the raffle, I still felt that I gained a lot there.

I am so glad that I attended the conference with my AAU classmates Sunny, Kelley and Hyoji. We really had a good time over there. And because of these familiar faces, it really made me, this introvert person, feel easier to handle this big event with so many strangers. (Though these strangers are very friendly)

After the conference, I decided to stay in LA couple days more. Trying to enjoy the "real" Summer in LA. I went to some great Museums over there, and found a good cafe to do some sketches. After several weeks working all day long at home, this working holidays really refreshed me. I also visited my friend Barsha. She took me to lovely Stories Books & Cafe and the amazing Time Travel Mart. I strongly suggest everyone who have time travel experience to visit this shop.
